Police: Man runs onto I-55, fatally struck by semi in Burr Ridge

BURR RIDGE (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A 40-year-old man was fatally struck by a semi Sunday night on I-55 in southwest suburban Burr Ridge, police said.

The man tried to run across the expressway near County Line Road when an inbound truck struck him at 9:49 p.m., according to Illinois State Police.

He was dead when police arrived, police said. The DuPage County coroner’s office did not immediately confirm the death.

The middle and far right northbound lanes were temporarily closed to traffic, but reopened at 1:57 a.m. Monday, police said. The driver of the semi remained at the scene, but no citations or charges have been filed.
