CHICAGO (FOX 32 NEWS) - Chicago police opened fire on two dogs that were attacking a woman Monday evening in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.
Officers responded to a call of two dogs biting a woman around 7 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Evans Avenue, according to police.
When police approached, one of the dogs charged at them. Officers opened fire and struck the dog.
The 68-year-old woman was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
“They mauled that woman something crazy. They were pulling. One was pulling one way and the other was pulling another way," witness Gregory Mallette said.
The dogs were corralled and taken in by Animal Care Control.
Chicago Police are investigating.
