Teen critically wounded in South Side alley shooting, police say

A teenage boy is hospitalized after being gunned down in an alley Saturday afternoon on Chicago's South Side, authorities said.

What we know:

The shooting happened at 1:53 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Damen Avenue, in the West Englewood neighborhood. 

Chicago police said the 17-year-old boy was in the alley when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots at him.

He was struck multiple times and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, according to CPD.

What's next:

No further details on the suspect or the shooting have been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
