1 dead after Metra train strikes vehicle near Norwood Park, officials say
NORWOOD PARK, Ill. - One person is dead after their vehicle was struck by a Metra train near Norwood Park Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. and has led to major delays.
Further details on the crash and the person's identity haven't been released. The Cook County Coroner was called to the scene.
Metra said the train, scheduled to arrive in Harvard at 5:20 p.m., was stopped because of the crash.
Inbound and outbound Metra trains near Norwood Park were halted and extensive delays were reported. As of around 6:15 p.m., trains were on the move, but the delays will continue.
