WGCI cancels 'Takeover Jam' over 'specific safety' concerns
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Chicago radio station WGCI has canceled a concert event scheduled for Thursday night due to security concerns.
Citing "specific safety and security concerns," WGCI said it was advised by the Chicago Police Department to cancel their Takeover Jam at the Chicago Theater.
"We have been advised by the Chicago law enforcement to cancel tonight's WGCI Takeover Jam due to specific safety and security concerns for the surrounding area," a statement from the radio station said.
Chicago Police told FOX 32's Tia Ewing the concert was ultimately canceled by the venue as a result of some concert goers who were expected to attend.
This is the only concert impacted this weekend, police say.
YFN Lucci, Rich The Kid, Lil Baby, Derez Deshon, and Kash Doll were all scheduled to perform at the concert.
All tickets purchased through Ticketmaster by telephone or online will be automatically refunded, according to WGCI. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster outlets or the Chicago Theater box office can be refunded at the point of purchase.
