South Shore adds train for Cubs' night playoff games
CHESTERTON, Ind. (AP) — The South Shore commuter rail line is adding an extra train to its schedule for Chicago Cubs home night games during the Major League playoffs.
The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District announced Thursday the extra train will leave downtown Chicago's Millennium Station one hour after each game ends and make all stops before terminating at Michigan City. The Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line provides service from Wrigley Field to near Millennium Station.
The Cubs open the National League Division Series against the San Francisco Giants with an 8:15 p.m. CDT game Friday. The teams also play at 7:08 p.m. Saturday before the series shifts to San Francisco.
Regularly scheduled South Shore trains leave Millennium Station at 11 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. weeknights, and 11:15 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. on weekends.
