A gold pocket watch owned by John Jacob Astor IV sold for $800,000 at a Chicago auction, far exceeding its $300K–$500K estimate. The watch was worn by Astor aboard the RMS Titanic sinking and was later recovered from his body. A gold pencil case belonging to Astor was also auctioned, selling for $160,000 after competitive bidding.
