3 drivers hurt in Edens crash in Skokie
SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE - Three people were injured, one critically, in a three-car crash Thursday morning on the Edens Expressway near north suburban Skokie.
A green 1996 Subaru was southbound on I-94 near Church Street at 4:54 a.m. when the driver lost control on wet pavement and the car spun out, striking the left wall, according to Illinois State Police. The car came to rest, blocking the two left lanes of traffic.
A gold 2004 Volvo in the center southbound lane struck the driver’s side of the Subaru, police said. A green 2001 Buick then struck the Volvo.
The driver of the Subaru, a 25-year-old Wonder Lake man, was taken in critical condition to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, police said.
The driver of the Volvo, a 68-year-old Skokie man; and the driver of the Buick, a 40-year-old Waukegan man, were taken to Evanston North Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
All lanes were closed for investigation until 9:14 a.m.
Police said weather was possibly a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
