CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Firefighters rescued five cats from a house fire Monday evening in the Jefferson Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The fire was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. at the two-story house in the 5300 block of West Leland, according to Fire Media Affairs. It was started by a barbecue.

A cat was seen on the roof of the house before the rescue, fire officials said. A total of five cats were rescued from the fire.

Paramedics used a pet mask carried on CFD ambulances to give one of the cats oxygen to treat smoke inhalation, fire officials said. No injuries were reported.
