CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A body pulled from Lake Michigan on Saturday morning in the South Side Hyde Park neighborhood has been identified as missing medical student Ambrose Monye.

Monye, 28, was reported missing after last being seen April 22 near 55th Street and Lake Park Avenue, according to a missing person alert from Area Central detectives. He lived in the 5500 block of South Everett.

About 10 a.m. Saturday, crews responded to a call of a person in the water between 54th and 59th streets, and found him about half an hour later, authorities said. The body was thought to have been in the water for an extended period of time.

His cause and manner of death are pending further studies, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Monye was set to graduate from medical school in May, according to his family.
