Body pulled from Lake Michigan days after man went missing at Navy Pier

A body was pulled from Lake Michigan Thursday near Gold Coast less than a week after a man went missing nearby.

Chicago police’s Marine Unit responded to calls of a person in the water about 6:45 p.m. near the 800 block of North Lake Shore Drive and found the body of an unresponsive man, Chicago police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

His identity has not been released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Autopsy results were pending Friday afternoon, the medical examiner’s office said.

Oluwafemi “Arthur” Labinjo was reported missing last week after he was last seen hopping across boats at Navy Pier.

It was still unclear if the two cases were related, a police spokesperson said. Area Central detectives were continuing a death investigation.
