Chicago crime: Boy, 15, arrested minutes after allegedly trying to rob 60-year-old man

A 15-year-old boy was charged with robbing a teen at gunpoint and trying to hold up another victim on a CTA platform Thursday morning on Chicago's West Side.

The teen was arrested around 9 a.m. in the 500 block of South Kedzie Avenue, police said. He was charged with armed robbery with a firearm, attempted armed robbery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

The backstory:

Police said the 15-year-old robbed a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint in the 3100 block of West Harrison Street.

Several hours later, the teen tried to hold up a 60-year-old man at gunpoint who was at the Kedzie-Homan Blue Line station, according to police. Minutes later, he was taken into custody.

There were no reported injuries. No further information was provided.
