Chicago man charged in fatal Des Plaines stabbing
DES PLAINES, Ill. - A Chicago man has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a woman earlier this month in Des Plaines.
Dwayne Thompson, 63, was arrested on Wednesday after investigators connected him to the death of Roberta Langan, 50, of Des Plaines. The incident occurred on Dec. 5 at an apartment building in the 1400 block of Ashland Avenue.
Officers responded to a call around 9:27 p.m. that night and found Langan in the hallway with multiple stab wounds. She was transported to a hospital but died from her injuries early the next morning.
Police say Thompson, who had a brief dating relationship with Langan and was planning to rent a room in her apartment, was identified through electronic evidence, witness accounts, and surveillance footage. Video reportedly showed Thompson leaving the scene wearing the same coat he had on when arrested days later at a deli in Chicago.
