Chicago men charged in July 4th murder in Englewood

Two Chicago men have been charged in connection with a deadly Fourth of July shooting in the Englewood neighborhood.

The backstory:

Dajon Neely and Eugene Sanders, both 18 years old, allegedly shot a 34-year-old man in the neck at 1 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Laflin Street, police said.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Dion Butler by the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Neely and Sanders were arrested Tuesday in Chicago and Carbondale, respectively. Each was charged with one felony count of first-degree murder.

The pair have detention hearings scheduled for Thursday.
