Chicago men charged in series of SW Side armed robberies
CHICAGO - Two men were charged in connection with several armed robberies Tuesday afternoon on Chicago's Southwest Side.
Rashod Louis and Hamata Hampton, both 18 years old, were arrested around 5:35 p.m. in the Fernwood neighborhood, police said.
Several hours earlier, Louis and Hampton allegedly held up several people at gunpoint in three separate robberies across three Southwest Side neighborhoods.
The armed robberies took place:
- Around 1:50 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Hamlin Street in West Elsdon
- Around 2:30 p.m. in the 4800 block of South Kedvale Avenue in Archer Heights
- Around 3 p.m. in the 4300 block of South Whipple Street in Brighton Park
Louis and Hampton were each charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm. They are scheduled for detention hearings Thursday.
