Chicago weather: Friday morning forecast

Fox Chicago Meteorologist Mike Caplan breaks down today's weather outlook.

After that wild ride yesterday, we at least have a few quiet hours today before the next round of showers and storms moves in tonight.

Timeline:

Temperatures will be on another up-down ride today and even tomorrow. The high for the day has happened already, in the low 60s. While skies remain mostly cloudy, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 50s for most of the morning and by first pitch at the White Sox game, it will likely still be in the 50s.

However, cooler temperatures will be sliding in off the lake once again, sending temperatures into the 40s across our northern counties and near the lake. Eventually, that cooler air will overspread all of Chicagoland, but we should stay dry at least until the early evening hours.

Showers and thunderstorms will move into our area after dark, and while an isolated stronger or even severe storm can’t be ruled out, it certainly does not appear to have the same intensity as what we experienced on Thursday.

Showers will likely continue into early tomorrow morning and exit not long after sunrise. The warmest part of the day will be in the morning when temperatures will have risen back into the upper 50s. Once again, winds will shift and temperatures will drop in the afternoon into the 40s, but at least rain will be done for the remainder of the weekend.

On Saturday night it will be partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the mid to upper 30s. Easter will be quiet and cool with highs in the low 50s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
