Cold and wet start to the weekend

A strong area of low pressure will bring periods of rain late Friday through Saturday afternoon.

Rainfall amounts will approach 1 inch in many areas.

High pressure across southern Canada will work with the area of low pressure to the south to bring increasing winds off of Lake Michigan. This will keep temperatures mainly in the mid to upper 40s across the area except for the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago, where temperatures may climb over 50 degrees.

The good news is that the thunderstorms and severe weather will not impact the area. There is a slight risk for severe storms across the southern tip of Illinois.

Things dry out Sunday with sunshine and temps in the 50s. Next week looks awesome with dry conditions and temperatures in the 60s. Enjoy!
