Construction worker fatally struck by dump truck in Lake Forest
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE) - A construction worker was killed Tuesday when they were hit by a dump truck in north suburban Lake Park.
Shortly after midnight, emergency personnel responded to calls of an crash involving a road construction worker who was hit by a vehicle in the area of Route 41 near Old Elm Road, Lake Forest police said in a statement.
Laura Casey, 56, had been hit by a dump truck that was backing up during road construction operations, police and Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said in statements. Casey, of Antioch, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
An autopsy released Wednesday found that Casey died of multiple crushing injuries, Cooper said.
"We have been in close contact with Ms. Casey's family and our deepest condolences go out to them during this difficult time," Cooper said. "This is truly a tragedy,"
The Lake Forest police are investigating the crash.
