CTA Holiday Train starts running Friday
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The CTA's highly anticipated holiday train featuring Santa and his reindeer will begin its annual run Friday with its first stop on the Green Line.
The holiday train, which features Santa on a sleigh in an open flat car pulled by a six-car CTA train, will run Friday on the Green and Orange lines and travel along all CTA train lines through the end of November into December.
Travelers can ride in the passenger rail cars, which will be decorated with multi-colored lights, bows, garlands and will play holiday music, the release said.
Rounding out the festooned fleet is the Holiday Bus, which starts running Nov. 28 and will make appearances on 14 routes across the city.
Customers can track the whereabouts of Santa and the Holiday Train and Bus by using CTA Train Tracker, which will feature a digital candy cane next to the estimated arrival time information, and the dedicated Holiday Bus Tracker available at transitchicago.com/holidaybustracker.
The CTA says the train “generally operates” from about 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select weekdays. An additional “Elves’ Workshop Train” will accompany the holiday train on Saturdays. The Holiday Train, Elves’ Workshop Train and Holiday Bus will make all stops along their scheduled routes. Normal CTA fares apply. Full schedules and more information is available on the CTA website: transitchicago.com/holiday.
