Family: Man left woman to die on freeway during first date
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - The family of a Florida waitress fatally struck by numerous cars while lying on a freeway says they have solved the mystery of how she got there.
The family of 33-year-old Jennifer St. Clair says she was on a first date with Miles McChesney of New York last weekend when she fell off his borrowed motorcycle on Interstate 95 near Fort Lauderdale and he fled.
They filed a lawsuit Friday against the 34-year-old McChesney. No criminal charges have been filed against McChesney, but the Florida Highway Patrol says it is investigating. It declined further comment, as did McChesney's attorney.
The lawsuit says St. Clair and McChesney were with other couples on motorcycles and stopped at three bars. It says one of the other motorcyclists briefly called 911 but hung up.
