Heaters, shovels flying off the shelves at Home Depot

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - We knew this day would come. After a mild December, Chicago is getting blasted with frigid temperatures this week.

So, that means it is finally time to prep for the winter weather ahead. FOX 32's Lisa Chavarria took a trip to the Home Depot on North Avenue to check out some of the hot items flying off the shelves this week. 

Home Depot store manager Joyce told FOX 32 News portable heaters and shovels have been a hot ticket item all week long. 

The portable heaters range from $25 to $50. Most of these portables have an auto shut-off feature, so that your heater does not run continuously throughout the day or night. 

Users are warned to keep the heaters away from furniture or drapes.
