Heavy rain, 'minor' flooding expected in west suburbs

Heavy rains were expected to leave parts of the western suburbs flooded Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service placed southeastern DuPage County under a flood advisory, which was scheduled to remain in effect until 7 p.m.

According to the weather service, radar indicated thunderstorms producing “very heavy” rain could potentially cause “minor” street flooding in several west suburban municipalities.

Aurora, Naperville, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Westmont, Lisle, Oak Brook, Woodridge, Darien, Warrenville, Clarendon Hills and Willowbrook all were at risk of flooding, according to an alert from the weather service.
