A man was rescued Monday evening after being trapped under a collapsed utility pole following a tractor incident.

The Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts responded to the 20400 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road at 5:07 p.m. to reports of a person trapped.

Upon arrival, firefighters located the man in the driver’s seat of a medium-sized tractor pinned beneath the pole. The collapse also brought down electrical wires, creating a potential hazard, fire officials said.

Preliminary investigations indicate the tractor struck a guide wire, causing the pole to fall.

ComEd crews arrived shortly after and confirmed the electrical lines were de-energized. Firefighters then worked to safely free the man, who had been trapped for about 45 minutes before being found by a family member.

The man was evaluated at the scene and did not require hospitalization, fire officials said.
