KANE COUNTY - A two-vehicle head-on crash in Kane County on Tuesday was so severe that a helicopter was called in to fly one of the victims to the hospital.
Around 1:44 p.m., Kane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a traffic accident on Route 47 at Kenmar Drive.
When officers arrived at the scene, they learned a white pickup truck and gray Sprinter van had collided head-on.
Officials say a 47-year-old man was driving the van southbound on Route 47 when he entered the northbound lanes into upcoming traffic. The van collided head-on with a Ford F550 that was hauling a trailer full of construction equipment.
A helicopter was called in to fly the driver of the van to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries. The other victim esd taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries.
The 47-year-old was identified as Kendic Hasan of St. Charles. The driver of the truck was identified as Matthew Smith of Elburn.

Police say there have been no traffic citations issued as the crash is still under investigation.
