Man critically injured in apparent stabbing at suburban gas station
WOODSTOCK, Ill. - A man was critically injured in an apparent stabbing at a gas station in Woodstock on Monday, prompting a swift emergency response and airlift to a trauma center.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District received a 911 call at 11:17 a.m., reporting an injured man at the Shell gas station at 110 N. Eastwood Drive.
When paramedics arrived, they found the man outside the building with a severe chest laceration, believed to have been caused by a knife.
Recognizing the severity of the injury, paramedics determined the man’s condition was critical and called for a medical helicopter.
He was initially taken by ambulance to the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital before being airlifted by Mercyhealth REACT to Javon Bea Hospital—Riverside in Rockford for advanced treatment.
The Woodstock Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
