Random shooting rampage victims include 20-year-old man, 81-year-old woman at convenience store

Jason Nightengale, 32, shot and killed a man at a convenience store in Brainerd on the South Side, police said, part of a random shooting rampage that ended in Evanston Saturday night with Nightengale's death.

At about 3:30 p.m. in the 9300 block of South Halsted Street, Nightengale walked into the store, pulled out a gun and unleashed gunfire, Chicago police said.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the head and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An 81-year-old woman suffered gunshot wounds to her back and neck, police said. She was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday night.

Shooting rampage in Chicago and Evanston ends with suspect dead
