MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. (FOX 32 News) - Another group of teachers are on the picket line, and that is causing classes to be canceled Thursday.

Overnight, teachers in McHenry County district 156 told the school board its best offer isn't good enough.

According to a report from the Northwest Herald,  a nearly six-hour contract negotiation session Wednesday night yielded no agreement. The standstill prompted classes to be canceled for the nearly 2,500 students enrolled at district schools.

The school district posted an alert on their website Thursday morning, saying, "Schools are closed today, October 1, 2015, as a result of a teacher's strike.  You will be receiving updates as matters change."

A teachers union spokesperson told FOX 32 News the contract negotiations revolve around salary, salary philosophy and the insurance package.

The union went on to say the 150 teachers affected by the strike are receiving support from both current and former students.
