More than 100 flights canceled at O'Hare as storms approach
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - More than 100 flights have been canceled Thursday at O’Hare and several other flights are delayed as storms cross the Chicago area.
More than 100 flights have been canceled at O’Hare International Airport as of 3:30 p.m. and airlines are reporting delays averaging 30 minutes, according to the city Department of Aviation.
At Midway International Airport, airlines are reporting a few delays averaging 30 minutes or more, but no flights have been canceled.
Showers and thunderstorms are moving across northern Illinois, according to the National Weather Service. The storms could produce small hail, gusty winds and downpours as the temperatures climb into the high 60s.
Thursday night is expected to be cloudy with a high of 39, according to the weather service. Scattered showers are possible Friday, with a high near 47.
