CHICAGO (AP) — The chairman of the Obama Foundation says selecting the site for the president's library may not take place until spring.
Marty Nesbitt said Tuesday it was expected the site location for the Barack Obama Presidential Library and Museum would occur shortly after the University of Chicago's bid was chosen in May. Nesbitt told the City Club of Chicago on Tuesday the decision might not come until June.
Nesbitt said the two possible sites, Washington Park and Jackson Park on the city's South Side, are "two really good sites; not a bad choice." He said because of that planners have to dig deeper to determine which one is best.
The Obama Foundation says 140 architecture firms have applied to design the library. The center is expected to be completed by 2021.
