Nike's first Michael Jordan Brand store opens Saturday in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) — Nike is about to open the first-ever Michael Jordan Brand store in Chicago.

The new Jordan store will open Saturday on State Street. There was a line outside the store late Friday as people from as far away as Las Vegas and Baltimore were drawn by the former Chicago Bulls star's mystique.

Nike executives say they have plans to open Jordan Brand stores in New York, Los Angeles and ultimately Toronto, selling not only basketball sneakers but also men's training shoes.

Executives also say Jordan Brand will begin making shoes specifically for women. Currently, women's goods on the brand's website are mostly bags, hats, visors, headbands, scarves and socks. The products feature a trademarked Jordan "Jumpman" silhouette, not the Nike swoosh.

No word yet if Jordan will appear at Saturday's opening.
