Orland Park man shot ex-girlfriend's brother in Brookfield: police
BROOKFIELD, Ill. - A 22-year-old Orland Park man is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend’s brother in Brookfield on Sunday.
Brookfield police were called to the 4600 block of Custer Avenue around 8:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired.
At the scene, officers found a 24-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers applied a tourniquet before paramedics took him to a hospital. The victim is expected to recover.
The suspect was identified as Isaiah Montanez, who, according to police, had a dating relationship with the victim's sister. Montanez allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim following a confrontation outside the sister's home. He then fled on foot into Lyons, which led to an extensive search by officers.
An arrest warrant was issued for Montanez on Jan. 9. That same day, he surrendered to police.
Montanez is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class X felony. He appeared in court on Jan. 10 and was denied bond.
