WARRENVILLE (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Three men were killed when a car slammed head-on into another vehicle on Interstate 88 early Friday in west suburban Warrenville, according to Illinois State Police.

Just before 1 a.m., a Toyota Camry was going west when the driver lost control near Mill Street, hit the concrete median and crashed into a westbound Chrysler 300, state police said.

The driver of the Toyota, identified by police as 30-year-old Elgin resident Domenic Andreoni, was dead at the scene, as were the Chrysler driver, 32-year-old Aurora resident Ali Erhaima, and a passenger in the Chrysler, 40-year-old Naperville resident Shiva Inampudi.

Authorities initially said the Toyota had been going the wrong way, but later said it may only briefly have been going against traffic after hitting the median. The cause is under investigation.

Westbound traffic was shut down at Naperville Road until about 6 a.m. as crews cleared the scene.
