Police are searching for two males who stole an 8-month-old puppy at knifepoint early Wednesday while aboard a CTA Orange Line train on the Southwest Side.

About 12:05 a.m., officers responded to a call of theft on the train in the 3500 block of South Leavitt, police said.

The victim had been riding the train when two males approached and, while one male threatened the victim with a knife, the other took the victim’s dog carrier from the seat, police said.

An 8-month-old black and white puppy was in the dog carrier, police said.

The males then exited the train and were last seen running southwest on Archer, police said. The victim chased after them, but they got away.

Police searched the area with negative results. It was not immediately known whether the theft was caught on surveillance.
