Big picture view:

Nobody won the big prize in Saturday’s drawing, but tickets in Maine and New York matched five for a $1 million prize. A third ticket sold in South Dakota also matched all five white balls, and because the ticket included the Power Play option for $1 more, it doubled the winnings to $2 million.

There were also 31 tickets that won $50,000 prizes and five tickets that won $100,000 prizes in Saturday's drawing.

What's next:

The next drawing is on Monday, Aug. 25, with an estimated jackpot of $750 million before taxes, which could rapidly grow into one of the largest jackpots in history if a winner doesn’t emerge in the next drawing or two.

Monday’s drawing is already lined up to be the 10th largest Powerball jackpot.

The backstory:

The last time the Powerball was won was 37 drawings ago, in California, on May 31, 2025.
