Man tried to lure child into van in Rogers Park: police

Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a child into his van and chased them on foot Tuesday morning in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood.

What we know:

At 7:40 a.m., a child was approached by a man in a white van who tried to lure them into the vehicle in the 7000 block of North Ridge Boulevard, according to a CPD community alert.

When the victim refused, the man parked the van and chased them on foot.

The suspect was described as a hispanic man between 30 and 40 years old, roughly 6 feet tall. He was wearing blue jeans and a black and red short-sleeve shirt.

The suspect's vehicle was a white minivan with spray paint on the front passenger side, police said.
