Sloth kept as pet adopted by Oregon Zoo

Even if you think the sound of chewing is like nails on a chalkboard, you may not be able to resist video of Josie the two-toed sloth chomping on carrots and apples.

Josie's story is much more than her obvious enjoyment of tasty treats. She was rescued from a home where the zoo says she was being kept as a pet.

Josie the sloth was likely purchased by an individual through the illegal pet trade.

She was recently adopted by the Oregon Zoo and will be an ambassador to teach children about animals that should not be kept as pets.

Josie is being cared for behind the scenes, for now. She will soon make her public debut as the zoo's only sloth.
