Fire tears through South Holland home, 1 injured

A man was hospitalized after a fire broke out at a home Monday morning in suburban South Holland.

The fire started around 3:15 a.m. in the garage of a house near the intersection of 171st Place and Lewis Avenue, officials said.

Two men were inside the home when the fire broke out. One of them fled the house through a bedroom window. He refused treatment at the scene. 

The other man escaped through the garage and was taken to Franciscan Health Munster where he was listed in good condition, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
