South Shore shooting leaves 19-year-old dead

CHICAGO - A man was shot and killed Tuesday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

Police responding to a report of shots fired around 6:46 a.m. found the 19-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in the 6700 block of South East End Avenue, police said. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released from the Cook County medical examiner's office.

There is no one in custody as Area One detectives investigate.
