Stabbing suspect escapes SWAT team that surrounded Calumet City home
CALUMET CITY (SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE) - A stabbing suspect in the south suburbs escaped Monday from a home surrounded by a SWAT team in Calumet City.
Authorities were called at 2:30 p.m. for a fighting in the street and found that someone had been beaten and stabbed, Calumet City police said in a statement. The person was treated at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.
Witnesses told police that the suspect was seen entering a home in the 500 block of Douglas Avenue, police said. A SWAT team showed up and surrounded the home.
Police executed a search warrant of the home later in the evening, but found no one inside, police said.
