CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy and department officials updated the media Tuesday on recent violence and gun crimes affecting the city.

A very angry Mayor Emanuel also reacted Tuesday morning to the violent night of shootings in the city.

Four people were killed and eight others, including an 11-month-old boy, were wounded in shootings across Chicago in less than seven hours from Monday night to early Tuesday.

Mayor Emanuel was out at a CTA stop talking about a construction project when he was asked about the violence overnight.

Mayor Emanuel answered the question by saying it is time for the city to get serious about gun control and suggesting that the city must do more to create jobs and new opportunities for people.

"There are too many guns and too little values," he said.
