Video shows skateboarder damaging sports car along Ybor street

Tonya Halvorsrod’s Audi R8 is an eye-catching car with a price tag north of $200,000.  Friday night, it attracted the wrong attention while parked on 7th Avenue in Ybor City.

Video captured a skateboarder using the super-car’s hood for a stunt.

“I was sick to my stomach. I looked at my husband; neither of us could say a word,” Halvorsrod said.

Tampa police want to question Dalton Newbury, an amateur skater from North Carolina.  He was reportedly in town for the TAMPA-AM, a skateboarding event held over the weekend.

The video was posted to his Instagram.  It’s been deleted and his account is now private.

”They're trying to get followers and everything. They may think it’s funny but somebody, their property's being damaged,” said Tampa police spokesperson Eddy Durkin.

In this case, that damage will cost more than $4,000.

"It costs too much. My husband works too hard for it to be a just a ding," said Halvorsrod.  “So many people have gotten on to me, saying 'Don’t ruin this kid's life by one mistake.'  When I was a kid my mother would've killed me if I did something like that. I want to see him arrested -- period."

Due to the damage, the person in the video is facing a felony criminal mischief charge.

FOX 13 attempted to reach Dalton Newbury by phone; he did not return our calls.
