A warmup is on the way for the Chicago area
Emily Wahls has your Chicago weather update!
CHICAGO - It was a bitter cold day for the Chicago area with high temperatures only in the teens and wind chills just a few degrees above zero.
Clearing skies are expected tonight with lows dropping into the single digits. Fortunately, winds will only be in the 5-10 mph range, so wind chills will not be as brutal as last night. Wind chills will likely hover between -5 and zero tonight.
While Friday starts off cold, we'll see a decent warmup with highs in the upper 20s during the afternoon. Skies will be partly cloudy in the morning, becoming partly sunny during the day.
The weekend will be much warmer with highs near 40 on Saturday and then in the mid 40s on Sunday. Rain is expected to move in Saturday during the day and continue into the night. Scattered showers may linger into Sunday morning, but a drying trend is expected throughout the day.
Another system will move into the area on Monday, bringing another round of rain. Temperatures will be very mild, near 50 degrees, before more seasonable temperatures arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday.
