CHICAGO (FOX 32 NEWS) - Joe Trainor Jr. is a true hero.
Trainor did two tours in Afghanistan, including the first wave after 9/11, but when he got home, he found he had a hard time transitioning ... and he wasn't alone.
In fact, 22 veterans commit suicide every day. Looking to reverse that trend, Trainor founded "1Pet 1Vet," an organization that pairs shelter dogs with veterans seeking comfort from PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury and other psychological conditions.
Trainor joined Good Day Chicago to talk about his own struggles with post-service life and how his organization can help veterans regain their footing at home.
