CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - FOX 32 News has teamed up with no-kill shelter PAWS Chicago to bring you an adoptable pet each week. This week, we're featuring an adoptable cat named Garfield!

Meet Garfield, a 5-year-old gentleman who is looking for a loving home. Despite his rough exterior from his previous life on the streets, he is one of the sweetest cats at the PAWS Chicago Adoption Center.

He is laid back and likes to hang around the house. Garfield loves attention and his foster parents report that he would follow them around the house to ask for belly rubs. While he leads a laid back lifestyle most of the time, he does like to play with the occasional string toy and bat around mouse toys.

Garfield is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive, which is a virus that depresses the immune system and hinders a cat’s ability to protect himself against other infections. However many FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives without signs of infection! This does mean that Garfield can only share his home with other FIV+ cats. Garfield would love to find the perfect family for him. Could that be you?

Garfield, along with many other adorable cats and dogs, will be available for adoption today at noon at the PAWS Chicago Lincoln Park Adoption Center, located at 1997 N. Clybourn Avenue in Lincoln Park. For more information call 773-935-PAWS or visit www.pawschicago.org.
