1-year-old girl shot in neck while riding in car on West Side
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A 1-year-old girl was shot in the neck while riding in the back seat of a car with her aunt and cousin Friday afternoon in Austin on the West Side.
They were driving west in the 5400 block of West Le Moyne when someone in a silver vehicle fired shots at the car about 4:45 p.m., according to Chicago Police.
A bullet went through the trunk and back seat, hitting the girl in the neck. Police initially said she had suffered a head wound but later corrected that information.
The driver took the baby to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. She was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where her condition remained stabilized Saturday morning, police said.
