62-year-old man murdered outside Joliet Township home
JOLIET TOWNSHIP, Ill. (STMW) - A 62-year-old man was murdered Thursday night outside his southwest suburban home in Joliet Township, according to police.
Deputies were called at 10:52 p.m. to a home in the 1700 block of Houston Avenue in unincorporated Joliet Township, where they found a man unresponsive in the driveway, a statement from the Will County sheriff’s office said. The man had suffered “considerable trauma” and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Someone who lives in the home told deputies they heard the victim talking to someone outside, then heard a loud noise, the sheriff’s office said. That person went outside and found the victim lying on the ground unresponsive.
The Will County coroner’s office is withholding the man’s identity pending notification of family. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday to determine cause of death, but investigators are treating the case as a homicide.
