76-year-old man shot to death on Far South Side
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A 76-year-old man was found shot to death Tuesday afternoon on the Far South Side.
Officers conducted a well-being check in the 13200 block of South Riverdale about noon and discovered Claude Cannon with gunshot wounds to his chest and buttocks.
Cannon's brother, Darrell, described to FOX 32 the moment he found his brother lying dead just inside the back door.
"I went downstairs to get ready to eat and it was cold downstairs, and I thought he had inadvertently left the door open, so when I went around to go to the back door, there my brother was," Darrell said.
Investigators on the scene told Darrell that whoever shot his brother was standing on the back steps of the back porch, outside of the house.
"Two of the shots you could see...if my brother was standing there, two of the shots had to hit him in the chest," Darrell said.
Darrell told FOX 32 his brother was well liked in the neighborhood. In fact, he had a couple nicknames. Cannon was affectionately known as Uncle Bubba and Poppa C.
Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
