Armed robberies in Chicago Lawn prompt community alert

CHICAGO (STMW) - Two armed robberies in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side have prompted a community alert from police.
The suspect approaches victims with a handgun and demands or takes their property, the alert said.
The first robbery occurred at 8:10 a.m. Oct. 9 in the 6900 block of South Campbell Avenue. The second happened earlier this week. around 3:30 a.m. Oct. 26 only a few blocks away in the 6900 block of South Western Ave.
The suspect is described as a black man with dreadlocks between 18 and 40 years old, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, and weighing between 160 and 170 pounds.
