Authorities investigating alleged sexual assault at Oak Park, River Forest High School

OAK PARK (STMW) - Authorities are investigating a recent alleged sexual assault that happened at Oak Park and River Forest High School in the western suburbs.

The alleged assault happened in the school building during nighttime hours, according to a statement posted on the District 200 website.

“The district cannot share explicit details, as the incident involved only students. We believe this was an isolated event,” according to the statement.

The school district will begin installing additional security cameras throughout the building during winter break, according to the statement. The school is also reviewing the community’s access to the building after hours.

“Incidents of sexual violence on our campus, however rare, let us know we must do more,” according to the statement. “Sexual violence will not be tolerated. Opportunities will be provided for staff and students to reflect on what we can and will do to make the high school a place that is physically and emotionally safe for all.”

A representative for the Oak Park police department did not immediately respond to a request for information.
