Body found in backyard of Florida home believed to be missing grandmother
NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. - A body found in the backyard of a Neptune Beach home is believed to be that of a missing grandmother, Jacksonville deputies said Friday.
Kristina French, 53, was reported missing this week along with her 15-year-old grandson, Logan Mott.
Deputies said they believe they found the body of Kristina French, but her grandson is still missing, along with the car they were believed to have been traveling in.
Friday, deputies said surveillance video shows Logan may have traveled to Pennsylvania and he is now considered a person of interest in the death of his grandmother. A warrant has been issued for the teen on auto theft charges.
Earlier this week, the mother of the missing teen, Carrie Campbell-Mott, issued a plea to the public for the pair's safe return on social media and a Florida Missing Child Alert was issued for Mott on Tuesday.
Campbell-Mott says she last heard from her son on Sunday night, but has heard nothing since. He and his grandmother were reported missing Tuesday after the teen failed to show up to Sandalwood High School Monday or Tuesday, and French never showed up for work Monday or Tuesday.
Campbell-Mott says her son is insulin-dependent and was worried he wouldn't survive, but deputies said Friday they believe he has his insulin pump with him.
Campbell-Mott says Logan's father, Eric Mott, returned from vacation with his girlfriend when he arrived at home and saw his home was ransacked and the guns were missing from his gun safe, Action News Jacksonville reported.
Logan Mott is a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 120 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes.
Deputies believe he is traveling in a 2015 silver Dodge Dart, with Florida tag number DLLT42.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Logan Mott is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or 911.
